Football Australia today announces the retirement of Mark Bresciano from its Board of Directors, whilst continuing his role on the Football Development Committee.
Bresciano, a distinguished former Socceroo and a member of the Football Australia Hall of Fame, is stepping down from his board position to devote more time to his family and other business interests.
Since joining the Football Australia Board in 2019, Bresciano has been pivotal in shaping the strategic direction of our sport, particularly in enhancing the pathways to our national teams, the Subway Socceroos and the CommBank Matildas. His deep understanding of football, combined with his strong business acumen, has significantly contributed to strengthened programs, and bolstered our national and international standing.
While the Board respects Bresciano’s decision to prioritise his personal commitments, Football Australia is pleased to announce that he will remain involved in the Football Development Committee, ensuring his ongoing impact on the sport.
Anter Isaac, Chairman of Football Australia, expressed his gratitude for Bresciano's contributions: “Mark has been a tremendous asset to our Board, bringing invaluable insights from his extensive experience as a player at the highest levels of the sport. While we will miss his ongoing participation at Board level, we are deeply grateful for his unwavering commitment and are pleased that he will continue to contribute to Australian football through his role on the Football Development Committee.”
Mark Bresciano commented on his retirement from the Board, “Serving Football Australia and contributing to the sport that has given so much to me has been a profound honour. I am thankful for the experiences and relationships built during my tenure on the Board. As I shift my focus to my family and personal business interests, I look forward to continuing to work with the Board, Management, and football in a different capacity, continuing to help shape the future successes of our national teams.”
