Live Monitoring Technician - Casual

Football Federation Australia (FFA) is the national governing body for football in Australia. It governs all national teams (including the Caltex Socceroos and Westfield Matildas), the Hyundai A-League, Westfield W League, Foxtel National Youth League, Westfield FFA Cup, PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues and also leads state, community and grass roots football.

The FFA’s strategy focusses on Entertainment (connecting more fans with the Hyundai A-League), Participation (improving the experience for all participants), Winning (building generations of successful national teams) and Leading (Leading football towards a united purpose).

To achieve these goals FFA must become technology and knowledge leaders with an ambitious goal to become digitally mature in Australian sport. This will be achieved with a renewed focus on transforming the digital experience for the football community and leveraging new technology to support the business.

You will be responsible for:

  • Live Monitoring of FFA’s core digital platforms during live match streaming on FFAs Mobile App ‘My Football Live’.
  • Incident Management: First level support during live match streaming and weekend out of hours

Live Monitoring:

  • Perform readiness checks of all the FFA systems including readiness checks of relevant FFA vendors on game day
  • Pre-warm auto scaling of the API services if required
  • Manually monitor the FFA API services & Amazon instance during the live game
  • Active participant of each live event bridge
  • Attendance at weekly Live Event review meeting

Incident Management:

  • First level support for all Priority incidents including:
  • Logging of incidents
  • Categorizing and Prioritizing incidents
  • Triaging of and where possible remedy of an incident
  • Escalation where relevant to vendors or second level support
  • Providing status updates / communication to stakeholders

Knowledge & Experience

  • Experienced in working with fast moving data websites.
  • Running parameterised requests to secure APIs and interpreting issues through data, utilising tools such as Postman.
  • Strong working knowledge of operating with LAMP stacks
  • Troubleshooting issues through logs, linux service commands and running PHP artisan fetch commands.
  • Experienced in log searching through Kibana.
  • Experienced in interpreting infrastructure and application behaviour through dashboards.
  • Use of service incident response software e.g. PagerDuty
  • Ability to communicate through instant messaging software e.g. Slack
  • Ability to work weekends and nights.
  • Strong attention to detail, prioritisation, & process improvement skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Passion for football would be an advantage.
  • Educated to a minimum of degree level in a highly analytical discipline such as - Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science.
