Membership & Fan Engagement Coordinator

Football Federation Australia (FFA), the national governing body for football, is now recruiting for the position of Membership & Fan Engagement Coordinator to join its Sydney team. This position is part of FFA’s Marketing, Digital and Commercial Department and has a large consumer focus. FFA’s work covers all aspects of the game both internationally and domestically and in this position you will deal directly with a number of key stakeholders. 


Purpose of Role

  • To assist the Leagues Membership & Marketing Manager with the development and execution of the Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League’s Membership strategy by assisting Club’s with their Membership programs
  • To connect the Marketing Department with other key departments within FFA including Events and Community
  • To ensure that the highest level of customer service and experiences are provided to members and fans to increase engagement and satisfaction


Key Areas of Responsibility

Membership

  • Assist with the development of policies and practices for Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League Club Membership
  • Assist with the planning of the annual Membership Workshop for Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League Club Membership staff
  • Manage the monthly telephone conferences with Club Membership staff
  • Assist with the tracking and analysis of Club Membership sales, yields, prices and inclusions
  • Ensure that the membership message is pushed on all digital and social channels
  • Coordination of Finals Series communication- develop copy and organise with clubs to send emails/SMS at relevant times to encourage ticket purchasing
  • Assist FFA to grow and enrich the Football Family database and provide regular prospect lists to Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League Clubs
  • Report on Club match day attendance metrics
  • Other responsibilities as directed by the Membership & Marketing Manager, or the GM Marketing & Fan Engagement


Fan Engagement

  • Manage the execution of key fan engagement events and activities including fan days, march past communications and other junior participation and match day experience programs
  • Create effective and engaging match day activities and experiences to ensure strong match day attendances and fan experiences
  • Be the lead on community fan initiatives including hospital visits, school visits and grassroots visits
  • Manage the responses to fan enquiries via mail, email and phone
  • Manage the process for charity and fan requests for signed merchandise
  • Undertake additional strategic fan engagement projects, helping to organise, implement and gain across-department buy in where appropriate
  • Undertake competitor and market analysis to highlight new ideas and opportunities for the FFA and Clubs
  • Assist in ad hoc marketing support activity when required

Knowledge, skills and behaviour required

  • The successful candidate must have 1-2 years’ experience in a membership or fan engagement related role
  • The ability of the candidate to build and maintain strong relationships with members, fans, Clubs, Member Federations, government agencies, team colleagues, internal FFA departments and staff, FFA commercial partners and contractors
  • Strong communication (verbal & written) and relationship management skills
  • Strong project management disciplines inclusive of the ability to prioritise at peak times 
  • Understanding of membership marketing and sales practices at a premier sports club or league
  • Understanding of key areas such as database management and development, rolling payment  plans, new member sales, membership renewal strategies, and loyalty programs
  • Strong attention to detail, high standards of integrity, ability to represent FFA interests
  • Working knowledge of the requirements of contemporary sporting competitions & tournaments
  • Commitment to work as a member of a small team
