Member Federation Spotlight: Football NNSW Community Nominees for rebel Female Football Awards

The rebel Female Football awards will be held on Friday, recognising the incredible contribution by both women and men in football at all levels of the game in Australia.

As well as highlighting work done by women at both Westfield W-League and Hyundai A-League clubs, it also shines a light on the unique stories and volunteers at Member Federation and grassroots level.

The awards are held in categories including Female Player of the Year, Female Coach of the Year, Female Administrator of the Year, Female Referee of the Year and Male Champion of the Year.

And today we’re looking at the nominees from Football Northern New South Wales.

Female Coach of the Year - Rachel Bax

In 2019, Rachel was the coach of Northern NSW Member Zone Football Mid North Coast, U12 girls team in Port Macquarie. Rachel is a positive and progressive coach, where she has created a fun football environment where the young players are able to build confidence. Rachel was a successful applicant for the 2019 Northern NSW Football C-Licence Coaching Scholarship and attended Part 1 & Part 2 of the course at the end of last year.

Female Administrator of the Year - Laura Ranger

Laura is such a wonderful and dedicated volunteer who has put years of hard work into Mayfield Junior Football Club. She has had many hats on over her time at the club from starting off coaching her sons U6s team to joining the committee as secretary, getting the MiniRoos Kick-Off program up and running which is now in its third year and now stepping back into the registrar role and Miniroos coordinator.

Laura was approached by NNSWF to pilot the National Club Development Program. She promptly completed the online component and provided feedback on the process. The results of the NCDP application confirms the great work being done by Laura and the committee at Mayfield Juniors.

Male Champion of the Year - Stewart Hume

Stewart is Alstonville FC's MiniRoos Registrar and is a key driver is setting up the MiniRoos for Girls Kick-Off program and all-girls summer skills program. Stewart encourages many females to take up coaching and creates a positive environment.

Stewart has registered a rebel Female Football Week club event and continues to provide opportunities for all involved in the club. He coaches five ALDI Miniroos teams in addition to his roles more broadly to support development programs at the club.
