FIFA have today announced that Australian referee Kate Jacewicz and assistant referee Renae Coghill have been appointed to referee the Final of the 2016 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup being played in Jordan today (Friday 21 October).
The match between Korea DPR and Japan concludes an excellent tournament for Jacewicz and Coghill who were appointed to Venezuela vs. Germany and Brazil vs. England matches during the Group Stage.
Jacewicz and Coghill also worked together on the Westfield W-League 2016 Grand Final between Melbourne City FC and Sydney FC.
Football Federation Australia Chief Executive David Gallop congratulated Jacewicz and Coghill on their appointment to the Final.
“This appointment an outstanding achievement for Kate and Renae and is testament to their continued commitment to their refereeing and excellent performances in Jordan. Kate and Renae should be very proud and we hope they enjoy the experience of refereeing the Final.”
Jacewicz becomes the first Australian to referee the Final of a FIFA tournament since Tammy Ogston controlled the final of the 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup in China.
