CommBank Matildas Score Big with 11th Consecutive Sold-Out Match

The Australian Women's National Football Team and Australia’s favourite national team, the CommBank Matildas, have once again showcased their unparalleled appeal by selling out three successive matches in Perth, Western Australia.

This impressive feat extends their record to an extraordinary 11 consecutive sell-outs, a streak beginning from the pre-FIFA Women's World Cup 2023™ send-off game against France and continuing through the FIFA Women’s World Cup™ itself.

Two of these exhilarating matches in Perth (Match Day 1 on 26 October and Match Day 3 on 1 November) are being held at the 20,000 capacity HBF Park, while the third match (Match Day 2 on 29 October) will be showcased at the impressive 60,000 seat Optus Stadium, where it is expected to be echoing with the deafening cheers of dedicated fans.

James Johnson, CEO, commented on this incredible achievement, saying, "The CommBank Matildas have not only showcased exceptional talent on the field but have also united and captivated an entire nation. Eleven consecutive sold-out matches is no small feat; it's a testament to the passion for women's football in Australia."

He continued, "The overwhelming support in Perth, from the intimate atmosphere at the football purpose built HBF Park to the grandeur of Optus Stadium, underscores the nation's unwavering commitment to our women's football team. We are immensely proud of the CommBank Matildas and equally grateful to the fans who have made this historic run possible."

This achievement was further buoyed by the support of the WA Government and Tourism WA, playing a pivotal role in promoting these matches and bolstering the profile of women's sports within the region.

"The collaboration with the Western Australian Government and Tourism Western Australia has been instrumental in the CommBank Matildas' recent success in Perth. Their commitment to championing women's sports and enhancing the fan experience has been invaluable," added Johnson.

The CommBank Matildas' journey, from their initial games leading up to the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023™ to their latest sell-out matches in Perth, demonstrates a story of resilience, skill, and fan dedication.

James Johnson added, "Every cheer, every ticket purchased, and every jersey worn by a fan reiterates the importance of the CommBank Matildas to the Australian sports community. We are on an incredible journey together, and there's no telling where this momentum will take us."

Western Australia Premier Roger Cook commented on the incredible support for the CommBank Matildas and football in Western Australia, saying “It’s such an exciting time for women’s football, and fantastic to have Perth-born football legend Sam Kerr leading the Matildas through this history-making period for the sport.

“My Government is proud to have delivered this massive week of football for WA fans and visitors and support the Matildas’ journey to play in the Paris 2024 Olympics. Thousands of people have travelled to Western Australia to watch these six blockbuster women’s football matches, which is also a great result for the WA economy,” added the Hon Roger Cook.
